Positioning a Sidebar within Your Header
Some of you who followed my instructions on how to add a widgetized area to your header may only want the widgetized area in a part of your header instead of covering the entire area. You may be especially frustrated… Continue reading
Adding a Specialized Style Class to a Text Widget
Do you want to highlight the content of a text widget so that it appears differently than other widgets or text within your sidebar? Try creating your own class for the widget, and see how quickly you can make your site stand out from that standard “template” look of other Artisteer generated themes. Continue reading
CentsAble Stewardship Facelift
I just had the privilege of working on a complete Branding and WordPress Theme Design with the Coupon Queen Holly from over at CentsAble Stewardship. Holly was looking for a more professional web presence as well as a way to better organize her blog about savings. She had a few ideas in mind, but wasn’t really sure about the next step. After discussing her needs, we were able to get her blog and feeds moved from the Blogger Platform over to the more powerful WordPress Platform as well as come up with a completely customized and professional logo and theme design. China Food Services Redesign
I just recently launched a complete redesign for China Food Services. By complete, I mean a total and complete transfer from just a standard html based site to a full WordPress CMS including content transfer, content editing, site organization and consultation, social networking, layout and design, and plugin and media installation. Creating a Secondary Horizontal Menu Holder
Having two separate horizontal menus for your WordPress theme can be extremely helpful, especially if you have a lot of content that needs to be organized. I wanted to highlight some of my static pages and most important content in a large menu above everything else, but also have easy navigation for all of my categories in another horizontal menu. Here are detailed instructions for how you can do the same thing. This is specifically for those using Artisteer 3 generated themes for WordPress. If you are still confused about custom menus in general, please see my post on Organization of your WordPress Site. Continue reading
Adding More Widget Styles to WP Part 2
In my last post, I shared how you can edit the “simple text” widget style of your Artisteer 3 generated WordPress theme. In this post, we’re going to take things a step further, and I’ll show you how you can create as many block styles as desired for your theme. So, let’s get started! Continue reading
Adding More Widget Styles to WP Part 1
If you have upgraded to the newest version of WordPress, you are loving the ability to style your widgets individually. If you are an Artisteer user, and you’ve upgraded to version 3, you have this ability as well. What you may not be able to figure out, though, is how to edit the styling of your widget options. Continue reading
Sheet Borders with Artisteer
I use Artisteer as the base for almost all of the websites I design because they do a great job of putting out compliant and flexible code for WordPress and Blogger sites (others also, but those are the two I focus on). Now, as much as I love Artisteer, and as much as they continue to improve, it is always good to learn how to design your own images, edit the CSS and sometimes the PHP as necessary to really produce some “non-template” style websites. If you don’t want to mess with the code, at least you need to learn how to creatively add your own images into Artisteer and edit images after the Artisteer build. Continue reading
